This error occurs while the QuickBooks POS is being initialized. There are solutions by which users can resolve the error swiftly.

Causes Of Error Initializing Qbpos Application LogSolution : 1

  • After pressing Ctrl + Alt + Del, choose the Task Manger and then from the Processes tan choose QBPOS Shell and then select End Task.
  • Next, right-click on the Start button and select File Explorer. Then, select the View tab and select the Hidden Items box.
  • Next, select Computer from the left window and then go to C:\Users\{User logged on}\AppData\Local\Intuit\QBPOSShell.exe…\{last modified folder}. This folder must be copied to the desktop.
  • Then, the user.config file inside the folder must be renamed “user.configold”.
  • Next, QBPOS must be opened. If the old initial screen appears, it must be closed. But the program might allow users to start working. If this is the case, the POS data must be backed up.
  • The sales history must also be checked to verify that the last sales had been recorded successfully.

Solution 2: Deleting the contents of the QBPOS Shell folder

Windows 10

  • First, users must press Ctrl + Alt + Del and choose the Task Manager. Then, from the Processes tab, choose QBPOS Shell and then select End Task.
  • Then, click Start and select File Explorer and then in the View tab select the Hidden Items box.
  • Then, choose Computer from the left window and go to C:\Users\{User logged on}\AppData\Local\Intuit\QBPOSShell.exe…\{last modified folder}.
  • Next, press Ctrl + A for selecting all the files in the folder and press the Delete key. Now, the window must be closed and Point Of Sale opened.

Windows 8

The steps are the same as for Windows 10.

Windows 7 and Vista

  • First users must press Ctrl + Alt + Del and choose Start Task Manager. Then, in the Processes tab, choose QBPOSShell.exe and then select End Process.
  • Next, right-click on the Start button and select Open Windows Explorer. Then, choose Organize, followed by Folder And Search Options.
  • Next, in the View tab, choose Show Hidden Files And Folders and then choose OK. Then, select Computer from the left window and then go to: C:\Users\{User logged on}\AppData\Local\Intuit\QBPOSShell.exe…\{last modified folder}.
  • Now select all the files in the folder and press Del key. Then, close the window and open Point Of Sale.

Windows 8

  • First, users must right-click on the Start button and then select Control Panel. Next, select User Accounts And Family Safety and then select User Accounts. Then, choose Manage Another Account.
  • Now, click on the Add A New User in PC Settings link and then select the Add A User button.
  • Then, click on the Sign In Without A Microsoft Account link and then select Local Account.
  • Now, a user name must be provided, and the password should be left blank. Then, users must select Next, followed by Finish.
  • Now, users must restart the computer and sign with a new admin account. Then, Point Of Sale must be opened. Users might have to open it from the Start menu if the Point OF sale icon isn’t seen on the desktop.

Windows 7

  • Press the Windows Start button and then choose Control Panel. Next, select User Accounts, followed by Manage Another Account and then select Create A New Account.
  • A name must be provided for the account and then users must choose Administrator. Next, users must select Create Account.
  • Once this is done, users must restart the account and sign in with the new admin account and then open Point Of Sale. If the Point Of Sale icon isn’t seen on the desktop, users might have to open it from the Start menu.

Windows Vista

  • After clicking the Start button, users must choose Control Panel and then double-click on User Accounts. Next, select Create A New Account and then choose Set As Administrator.
  • Now, select Create Account, and then after restarting the computer, sign in with the new admin account.
  • Next, open Point Of Sale. If the Point of Sale icon isn’t seen on the desktop, it might have to be opened from the Start menu.
